WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?

KKK

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?

You gave new school books

To the white kids

Because you thought that

Was the right thing to do

The black schools got

The scratched and scarred

So, I ask you,

Who the hell are you?

The white people got fountains

Made of porcelain up front.

The black go to a spigot or a hose

In the back just like you wanted.

You decided that was

The right thing to do.

So, I ask you,

Who the hell are you?

For over a century you said

It was illegal to teach blacks

They couldn’t read or learn,

You swore it was true.

They couldn’t marry

Everything belonged to you.

So, I ask you,

Who the hell are you?

You said blacks couldn’t vote

Unless they paid a tax

Or took a test for literacy

That you probably couldn’t pass

But that didn’t matter to you.

So, I ask you,

Who the hell are you?

You said women couldn’t vote

Because they had weak minds.

Nothing any examination could find

But wouldn’t let them take the test.

You ruled them just like the rest

More slaves to the likes of you.

So, I ask you, who the hell are you?

You said we couldn’t work

And couldn’t marry, or be equal

Because you treated us like slaves

And often even like criminals

Because we frightened you.

So, I ask you,

Who the hell are you?

Now you want to decide

Who is okay to have rights

And if we don’t agree with you

You will pass evil laws

Like you always do

And carry them through.

So, I still ask you,

Who the hell are you?
